Terraced Housing
A terraced house is a property which is located between other properties and is joined on both sides.

Town House
Usually, this term is used for a standard 2 storey terraced house of a more recent date.

The term Town House, is used by Eastbourne and Hailsham Estate Agents to describe newer build properties that have 3 or more floors.

Semi-detached House
A semi-detached house is one of a pair and is joined down the middle. The property will have a garden to the front and rear and usually to the side.

Detached House
A detached house is one on its own with its own land and not adjoined by another property.

Bungalows
A bungalow is a single storey dwelling and can be detached, semi-detached or terraced. The properties generally consist of 2 bedrooms, 1 reception room and a bathroom. There is sometimes potential for extension into the loft space to create a dormer or chalet bungalow. Bungalows take up more land, therefore expect to pay a higher price for a bungalow.

Flats
one that is spread over 2 floors, rather like a two storey house, but a property that is set within a block or converted house. Many Duplex Apartments are located on the top floors and are spacious inside. They are sometimes known as Penthouses as well.


Flats can be created where a house is split into separate dwellings as well as a block of flats being deliberately built, these will generally contain several flats. This term is used when there is a communal entrance or communal entrances to enable access to the separate properties. Many flats that are newly built in Eastbourne and a term that Estate Agents’ in Eastbourne and Hailsham frequently use is ‘apartment’. Meaning exactly the same thing as the word flat.


Duplex Apartment
A Duplex Apartment is one that is spread over 2 floors, rather like a two storey house, but a property that is set within a block or converted house. Many Duplex Apartments are located on the top floors and are spacious inside. They are sometimes known as Penthouses as well.

Penthouse Apartment
A Penthouse is an apartment which is located on the top floor of a building and is generally more luxurious than the other apartments in the block.
